Draft Page - Tips on Using Draft Pages

There are potential problems with using Draft Pages in Sandvox

If you publish the page then change it to a Draft (do not publish) in the Inspector, the original page is NOT deleted from the server therefore is still available with the correct URL address.

Tip 1: You need to manually delete the previously published page using an FTP client or similar.

If you make a page a Draft BEFORE publishing, the page is NOT published.

BUT if either the unpublished or changed to Draft page has in the Inspector:

  • The Include in collection index checked
  • The Include in site maps checked

They can appear on the Collection index page.

Tip 2: Uncheck these two options for Draft pages

AS WELL if:

  • The Time/date of the page is recent
  • The Collection that the Draft page is in, is set to
Show in parent: Item list: most recent first
  • The Collection's Parent is set to Show Summaries

the Draft page will be listed on the Collection's Parent, which is very likely the Home page.

Tip 3: Change the Draft page creation date to older than the last date shown on a Collection page's parent index page.
